The YMCA has been called "America's Favorite Swim Instructor" for over 100 years. At the Y, not only will you learn how to swim, you'll learn about yourself, about safety and rescue skills, and about water activities you can enjoy for a lifetime. Throughout all levels, students are taught aquatic, boating safety and rescue skills. We also offer water fitness classes and competitive swim programs for adults and youth. Class size is determined by both safety factors and age of participants and is closely monitored to ensure safety. Private lessons offer swimmers the opportunity to work one-on-one with our excellent instructors. All our instructors provide caring, personal instruction and all are YMCA Swim Instructor certified.
All children (age 0 - 16) under 5'5" must take the Swim Test. The swim test consists of the child swimming 25 meters (1 length of the pool) without stepping down or holding on to anything.
